About
Our aim to get people who are involved in conservation (scientists, economists, volunteers …) talking with each other, but most importantly people who aren’t conservationists. We believe that if the public understand what’s going on they’ll choose to conserve, and that the best people to explain what we’re doing are ourselves – not necessarily the conventional media.
We’ve received no funding to help support us; all of the money to run this site either comes out of our pockets, or out of the (£10!) profit we made at the end of ‘The Open Ground’, an event we held in London back in 2009. The site’s maintained by Will Pearse and Felix Whitton, and was a news website for about a year until this new format was launched at the start of 2010.
Funny fact: since then we’ve been hacked twice, once by an anti-American anarchist group. Please don’t hack us again – we’re nice people! And we don’t even like America that much!
